Wakefield Tennis Club Membership

There are a number of ways in which you can become a member of Wakefield Tennis Club...

(i) Come down to the club on one of our normal Saturday or Tuesday social sessions - the times are on the home page. You can play for a month on a trial basis without making any payment. Then, if you like us, sign up there and then as a new member - please pay the relevant fee to David Burton or a committee member, and also hand in a completed Membership Form

(ii) Telephone the club chairman (David Burton) see contact us page.

(iii) If you're fairly new to the sport of tennis, or are returning after a break, and you'd like some lessons to help your confidence and improve your game, give our coach Adrian Waite a call on 07717 223647. Adrian can advise on what coaching would suit you as well as all other aspects of the club tennis play. Coaching is optional, don't feel that you need to attain a certain standard of play to join Wakefield Tennis Club; we're a mixed bunch of all ages and abilities.

Membership fees for the current season are shown on the membership application forms which can be downloaded using the links below or a hard copy can be obtained from the club:

Membership types

We have several options of membership to cater for as wide a number people as possible.

The basic adult membership entitles you to come to the club and play tennis on any spare courts that are available. If matches, match practice or social tennis are officially taking place these take priority on the courts. With the basic adult membership you can also play for club teams, take part in the club's American Tournaments and take part in the singles box league. You may not use social tennis balls for your private games, but you may purchase them from the club at the prevailing price.

Social Add On - This allows you to take part in the club's social sessions on Saturdays and Tuesday evenings; new balls are provided regularly on Saturdays if no suitable used balls are available. You may also take part in the club's open and handicapped tournaments. The Intermediate / Student membership includes the social add on free of charge.

Making membership payments

Payments may be made directly into the club's bank account. Please remember to quote the member's name as the payment reference. Would members paying directly into the Bank Account please complete a membership form, and hand it to David or Elizabeth, so that we can keep our records up to date.

Or, you may pay by cheque made payable to Wakefield Tennis Club and handed to either Steve Cordingley, David Burton or Elizabeth Burton at the Tennis Club in an envelope together with a completed membership form.

Keys & gate keycard

A £10 deposit is required for keys. This will give you a gate key card, access to the courts and also access to the lock-up room to be able to use balls. Only used balls may be used other than when new balls are supplied at a social session. If you require new balls at any other time, they may be purchased from the club. You must be a social tennis member to use club balls.

Team captains and committee members have pavillion keys.
